ACUFO-1945-03-00-BRENNERPASS-1
Apparently, this case was first reported in a ufology book by Belgian Michel Bougard. He indicated that in March 1945, while carrying out his 37th mission above the Brenner Pass, between Austria and Italy, a B-25 pilot saw a foo-fighter, arriving “like a shooting star” and coming to rest one meter from the right wing of the aircraft. The size of a basketball, and bright white in color, it accompanied the bomber for two to three minutes; then, suddenly, it left as it had come, speeding through the sky.
Bougard said that, disturbing coincidence or a real omen, the next day, during its mission No. 38, this plane was shot down above the Brenner, and the entire crew perished with the exception of the pilot, the main witness to the UFO observed the day before.
A second version appeared in a ufology catalogue of 1984 by Dr. Louis Winkler, giving “OUFO (v.1, n.2)” as source reference. The UFO in this version is not white but yellow-white, it is not the size of a basketball but smaller than a basketball, and we are told that the “pilot felt as if he were being observed by intelligence” - the rest of the report being similar.
A few other versions appeared on the Web in the 2000's, based on Winkler's version.

A yellow-white light, smaller than a basketball, approached the airplane at an incredible speed. It almost attached itself to the wing of the airplane and synchronized its motion with the airplane's. The pilot felt as if he were being observed by intelligence. Duration 2 to 3 min.

This author indicates that in March 1945, while flying over the Brenner Pass which separates Austria from Italy, a pilot at the controls of his B-25 spotted a foo fighter, an object, which appeared from nowhere, like a shooting star, and came to rest 1 meter from the right wing of the aircraft. It was a luminous white sphere, the size of a basketball. The foo fighter escorted the aircraft for 2 to 3 minutes, then suddenly stalled and disappears into the sky.
The author adds that the next day, our pilot was again on mission (mission No 38). But his plane was shot down over the Brenner. All the crew lost their lives... “except for him who miraculously escaped. Coincidence?”
The author indicates that the source is “Michel Bougard, La Chronique des Ovni, Jean-Pierre Delarge, 1977, p. 273.”
The North American B-25 “Mitchell” (Below) was a high-performance medium bomber, used during WWII in Europe and the Pacific by the US Army Air Force.
Its crew was normally 8 men, its range was 2,170 km, its defensive armament was, depending on the versions, from 2 to 18 12.7 mm caliber machine guns.

The B-25 had been used in Europe by both the British Royal Air Force and the US Army Air Forces.
Michel Bougard certainly cannot be the first source, and he did not give his own source. Dr. Winkler indicates the source as “OUFO” Volume 1, No. 2, a publication which may be the magazine Official UFO. The Volume 2, issue 1, is dated August 1975.
