ACUFO:

ACUFO is my comprehensive catalog of cases of encounters between aircraft and UFOs, whether they are “explained” or “unexplained”.

The ACUFO catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file.

1944

ROMANIA, Ploiesti

The Vega oil refinery had just been destroyed by a bombing, when, late in the afternoon, an elongated yellow object came flying over the devastated region. The UFO was not luminous and left a sort of whitish trail behind it. According to witnesses, the object was moving four times faster than the planes they were used to seeing above the city. For 15 minutes various witnesses including engineers Farmacke and Zmeuranu saw this UFO circle the disaster area then leave in its direction of arrival. Aircraft information:

No information on an involved aircraft is given.

It is not certain that the sighting took place from an aircraft. This is nevertheless plausible, since the Ploesti oil installations were being bombed at that time by the American air forces during the day and the British air forces at night.

Discussion:

Map.

Totally insufficient information, possible meteor, for example.

Evaluation:

Totally insufficient information, possible meteor.
