In his 1995 book "L'Enigme des Extraterrestres", Jean-Francis Crolard reported that in November 1954, around midnight, in the Loire department, between Roanne and Saint-Etienne, on the national road 82, at the level of Feurs, Mrs. M. "R.", accompanied by her husband, an M.D., saw on her left, about 3 kilometers away, a light emerald green disc, the size of the full Moon when it is at its highest place in the sky. The disk seemed to spin on itself, emitting phosphorescent vibrations. Sometimes it was motionless, sometimes it moved horizontally, from left to right and from front to back. After about ten minutes, it rose vertically in a hundredth of a second and disappeared.
The author did not provide a source for this observation.
[Ref. jcd1:] JEAN-FRANCIS CROLARD:
In November 1954, around midnight, on the national road 82, between Roanne and St Etienne, in the Loire, at the height of Feurs, Mrs. M. R., accompanied by her husband, doctor, sees on her left, at about 3 km, a light emerald green disc, the size of the full moon when it is highest in the sky. The disc seems to spin on itself, emitting phosphorescent vibrations. Sometimes it is motionless, sometimes it moves horizontally, from left to right and from front to back. After about ten minutes, it rises vertically in a hundredth of a second and disappears.
[jcd1] does not give a source, and I found nothing else for the moment on this alleged observation.
From the duration and the moves, one could almost think of an astronomical misinterpretation, except that the final climb does not fit well.
The color excludes the moon, but could be reminiscent of Venus for example. As there is no precise date, verification of astronomical explanations is not possible; I leave the case as "unidentified, insufficient information."
