In a column signed "Don José" of the local newspaper of Avignon La Gazette Provençale for September 17, 1954, it is said that "about three weeks ago" this same newspaper had reported that an artist from Avignon, Mr. Pierre Vignal, had seen a flying saucer circling above the city.
[Ref. lgp2:] NEWSPAPER "LA GAZETTE PROVENCALE":
In his editorial published this morning in "Le Provençal", Théophraste complains that in Avignon no citizen has seen a flying saucer.
If Théophraste had read "La Gazette Provençale", about three weeks ago he would have learned that an artist from Avignon, Mr. Pierre Vignal, had seen a flying saucer circling above the city.
Théophraste has an excuse. He was not in Avignon three weeks ago, but in Cannes, where he was spending his holidays.
DON JOSE
