In his 1954 book "Flying Saucers Uncensored", British ufologist Harold T. Wilkins spoke of "mysterious explosions" in May and July 1954.
He said that something like a jet plane in flames fell into the sea off Brest, although no plane was in the sky; and he assured that the RAF could not clear up this mystery.

The data is obviously insufficient.
However, a meteor looks just like a falling plane in flames, and of course the supposed plane will not be found or identified.
