LDLN investigators, Mr. Cocagne and Mr. Tougeron, reported in the 1970s an observation by Mr. Boudier, 40, living in Incarville, which took place in June or July 1954 between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
At that time, Mr. Boudier was in his twenties. That evening, he would go around the house of his future father-in-law like every day, the weather was mild and the sky was starry.
He had taken the small path that passed behind the house and came on the entrance path through the small bridge under which the spill stream flows to the river from the hot spring that comes from a prospecting oil well drilled in 1933 and of a depth of 900 meters, which came out in pressure (kind of artesian well, hot and slightly sticky and gray liquid). At rest, the water became clear again with a slight deposit; which was also deposited on the banks of two small ponds and in the stream bed below.
Arriving on the other side of the bridge and turning right towards the Eure river, he saw in front of him what he first took for the headlights of a big vehicle. The seconds passing, he came forward, and surprised to hear no noise, he stopped and found with astonishment that it was a luminous red orange, silent, dazzling ball, of an apparent diameter of 40 cm, which advanced at walking pace on the way, at height of a man, i.e. 1.30 to 1.50 m.
He hesitated, he became frightened, made a slight run back, crossed the bridge again and hid in the hedge bordering the spring. Looking back, he saw the ball reach the bridge at 30 meters from him. It was spherical, dazzling and made no sound. It was moving away and disappearing from his angle of vision; he then recovered, curiosity taking precedence over fear, and advanced again to the middle of the bridge.
The thing, meanwhile, had gone over the source at about 5 meters, and suddenly it changed direction at right angle, with no gain or loss of luminosity, passing over the fence of the grass and continuing on this new trajectory without hurrying.
Mr. Boudier watched it go away, and lost it from sight in the distance.
The investigators specify that the hot spring, about 22°C, would have sulfur in it, in previous times people came to take baths. The witness did not experience any disturbance in vision, no tingling, no sleep disturbance.
Mr. Boudier worked for a long time as a driver in the company where Mr. Cocagne is a diesel mechanic, and they knew each other for a very long time.

OBSERVATION REPORT
This observation took place in Incarville (Eure) around June-July 1954. The witness, Mr. Boudier, driver, now aged 40, works in the same company where Mr. Cocagne is a diesel mechanic, they have known each other for a very long time.
I personally saw Mr. Boudier, who showed no reluctance to talk about his adventure, it seemed easier to tell than in 1954.
At that time, Mr. Boudier was in his twenties, that evening he went every day to take a tour of the house of his future father-in-law... it was a nice weather and the sky was starry, he had taken the small path that passes behind the house and leads to the entrance path through the small bridge under which the spill stream flows to the river from the hot spring that comes from a prospecting well oil drilled in 1933 and a depth of 900 m and comes out in pressure (kind of artesian well, hot liquid and slightly sticky and gray), at rest this water becomes clear with a slight deposit that can be found elsewhere deposited on the banks of two small ponds and in the bed of the stream below.
Arriving on the other side of the bridge and turning right towards the Eure, he saw in front of him what he thought at first sight was the headlight of a big vehicle. As the seconds passed, he advanced, then surprised to hear no sound, he stopped and realized with astonishment that it was a luminous sphere that was advancing at a walking pace on the way up to man's height (1.30 - 1.50 m), hesitation, fear, a slight run back, he crossed the bridge again and hid in the hedge bordering the spring, looking back he saw the ball reach the bridge 30 m from him, it was spherical, dazzling and making no noise. The thing moving away and disappeared from his angle of vision, Mr. Boudier pulled himself together, and curiosity taking precedence over fear, he advanced again and arrived in the middle of the bridge, the thing, meanwhile, had passed the source by about 5 m, suddenly it made a sudden change of direction at right angle, passing over the fence of the grass and continuing on this new path without hurry. The witness watched it go away and lost sight of it in the distance.

[Ref. lcn1:] LUC CHASTAN:
Luc Chastan indicates that in the Eure in Incarville in June 1954 at 23:00 hours "The witness observes at the time of a walk towards the east an orange red luminous sphere which advances along a way at 1m30 from the ground. It passes above the source of hot water then after a turn at 90° disappears while moving away (uncertain month June or July)"
The source is indicated as "Lumières dans la Nuit issue 259/260".
This might have been marsh gas.
