Summary:

In September 1988, ufologist Joël Mesnard published a catalog of unpublished French cases in the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit of which he had become the editor.

Among those was this case:

One evening in the fall of 1954, around 7 p.m., Mr. Tedesco was returning from work on his motorbike when, having reached 6 km from Sainte-Sabine, probably near Pont-d'Ouche, since he came from Beaune, he saw a luminous green object swoop down on him, emitteinga rather painful whistling sound. The witness was so frightened that he lost control of his motorbike and fell into the ditch.

About ten meters long, the object had the shape of an aircraft drop tank. It passed a few meters above the witness, then regained altitude and moved away towards the north.

Case #19: near Sainte-Sabine (Côte d'Or), autumn 1954

The witness was so scared that he lost control of his machine and fell into the ditch.

About ten meters long, the object had the shape of an aircraft drop tank. It passed a few meters above the witness, then regained altitude and moved away towards the north.

58 - LDLN n° 291-292, page 19, reports an identical case which occurred around 7:00 p.m. 6 km from Ste. Sabine, near Pont-d'Ouche, Côte d'Or, on a date which is unfortunately not specified. It only says: fall 1954! One Mr. Tédesco, who came from Beaune on a motorbike, saw a luminous green object swoop down on him, emitting a painful (sic) whistling sound. The witness was so frightened that he lost control of his machine and fell into the ditch. The object, about ten meters long and in the form of an aircraft supplemental tank, passed a few meters above the witness before regaining altitude and moving away towards the north. No source is cited by LDLN.

Explanations:

Map.

This was, possibly, a meteor.

It is of course only possible if the story was heavily distorted; which seems to be unverifiable now...
