In September 1988, ufologist Joël Mesnard published a catalog of unpublished French cases in the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit of which he had become the editor.
Among these was a case located in Buxy, in Saône-et-Loire:
One evening in October or November 1954, Mr. Dessartaine was returning home after a rehearsal of the municipal brass band, in which he was playing the trumpet. He had just left a comrade, who lived a few hundred meters away, and entered the courtyard of the farm of the Château de Vallerin, in Buxy.
All of a sudden, the courtyard and the buildings were lit up with a strong greenish light, for about two seconds. Mr. Dessartaine looked up at the sky when the illumination ceased, and saw a large white dot of light moving away silently, at moderate speed, towards the west.
He had been very scared. The next day, he had asked his comrade, whom he had left just moments before his sighting, if the latter had seen anything, but the answer was negative.

Case nr 20: Buxy (Saône-et-Loire), Autumn 1954

All of a sudden, the courtyard and the buildings were illuminated by a strong greenish light, which lasted only about two seconds. The witness looked up at the sky as the illumination ceased. He saw a big white luminous dot; which moved away in silence, at moderate speed, in the direction of the west.
Very frightened, the witness rushed home. Madame Dessartaine, who hadn't noticed anything, noted her husband's fright, who several minutes later was still shaking. The next day, Mr. Dessartaine asked his comrade, whom he had left only a few moments before his adventure, wether the latter had noticed anything. The answer was negative, and the trumpeter, fearing ridicule, was careful not to tell about what he had seen.

A meteor is a possible explanation.
It is not certain because the illumination was greenish and the spot white, because the comrade saw nothing, because no trail is mentionned.
