The ufology group Cercle Vosgien Lumières Dans La Nuit recorded in their 1984 catalogue a case in Raon-l'Etape shortly before September 28, 1954, at an unknown hour with as witnesses notables of the city, from the article in the newspaper La Liberté de l'Est for September 28, 1954, headlining "flying saucer or mirage?", of which they provided the entire text as:
"It was affirmed to us by notabilities of the city that a flying saucer has evolved above the hill of Repy one of these latest evenings."
"As a photo was taken, let's await the result that an eminent tex controller of our city will not fail to communicate to us."
It was noted in the catalogue that there no was continuation in the Press, and that, regrettably, the photograph did not appear.

"It was affirmed to us by notabilities of the city that a flying saucer has evolved above the hill of REPY one of these latest evenings."
