The regional newspaper La Bourgogne Républicaine, of Dijon, on page 4 for February 11, 1954, published the following information coming from their particular correspondent in Soirans and headlined "It was not a flying saucer but a weather balloon!"
The article said that while hunting in the forest, Mr. Eugène Bonnaire, from Soirans, was intrigued by a mysterious object located at the top of an oak tree:
"Climbing up the tree to unhook this mysterious craft, after finding by the police... it was a "Modulator 32 944 US" weather balloon."
"It wasn't a flying saucer, as one might have thought!"
