A regional catalog published in 2017 by Jean De Quercy, reports that in autumn 1954 at 8 p.m. in Azay-sur-Cher, a woman leaves a dependency of her farm and sees at a distance of about 200 meters, a red sphere flying over a field at the edge of the forest.
The sphere had an apparent diameter comparable to that of the moon and advanced slowly while oscillating but without illuminating the ground.
The husband, called, had the time to see the phenomenon for a few moments and it disappeared behind the trees. It reportedly lasted two minutes.

For lack of a date, it is not possible to check whether the red sphere of the size of the Moon was perhaps the Moon itself, a setting red moon.
