In his 1997 book on the French wave of 19954, French ufologist and author Jean Sider said he learned in an article from the newspaper La Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest for October 13, 1954, on page 4, that on October 7, at 4 o'clock in the morning, between Rivière and Ligré, in the department of the Indre-et-Loire, from the window of his residence in Rivière, an anonymous witness saw a machine in the shape of a cigar which took off from a field located on the slopes of Ligré and which then moved towards the east. The apparatus was red, luminous, and emitted a shrieking sound.
