In a general catalog of sighting reports of the Gironde written by the Bordeaux section of the C.F.R.U., published in the ufology magazine Ouranos in the fourth quarter of 1973, it is said that according to the Sud-Ouest newspaper for October 7, 1954, the following observation occurred:
On October 5, 1954, at 11:00 p.m. in "Cavernes" - actually the place called Port-de-Caverne in Saint-Loubès - Mr. Loubières, of Saint-Loubès, reportedly saw a misty sphere, of greenish yellow color, 10 meters in diameter, over a fence 50 meters from him. After moving slowly close to the ground, it slipped away at a dizzying pace as Mr. Loubières approached, crossing the wires of a high-voltage line.
The source was given as the newspaper Sud-Ouest for October 7, 1954.

[Ref. lcn1:] LUC CHASTAN:
Luc Chastan indicates that in the Gironde in St Loubès on October 5, 1954 at 23:00 hours at the location "port Cavernes", there was an observation of a yellow-greenish vaporous sphere, 10 meters in diameter, moving slowly near the ground before disappearing at a vertiginous pace when the witness approached.
Luc Chastan indicates that the source is "Ovni, Premier dossier complet... by Figuet M./ Ruchon J.L. ** Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979."
Unidentified, but unknown credibility and poor information.
One could think of a corona effect caused by the high-voltage line. But this is not so obvious since this effect does not leave the cables, in principle.
Then there is the possibility of ball lightning, assuming the size was not "10 meters in diameter", but 10 centimeters.
