In 1980, the local ufology group "5255" published their transcript of an article in the newspaper Le Haut-Marnais Républicain of October 9-10, 1954; which reported that a "flying cigar" had been seen in Consigny.
The article reported that Mr. Gaston Etienne, of Bourdons, and Mr. Paul Sponhauer, of Consigny, were preparing to lunch in the quarry where they worked, on the territory of Consigny, on the morning of October 5, 1954, at 8 o'clock, when their attention was attracted by the presence in the sky, North direction, and moving from East to West, on a craft in the shape of a cigar slightly tightened in the middle, in a vertical position, with multiple and changing colors where blue and green dominated, and shining at intervals in the sun.
They had watched this "cigar" moving slowly at "a certain height" for a few minutes.

CONSIGNY: Cigare volant

French well-known fologist François Lagarde compiled two articles of the newspaper "Le Haut-Marnais Républicain":
MISTERS Gaston Etienne and Paul Sponhauer, the first of Bourdons, the other of Consigny, prepared themselves for lunch in the career where they worked on the career of Consigny, this Tuesday morning at 8. Their attention was drawn by the presence in the sky, in the Northern direction, moving from the East to the West, of a machine having the shape of a cigar slightly narrowing in its middle, in vertical position, with the multiple and changing colors, where the blue and the green dominated, and which was shining at the sun by interval.
They followed on this "cigar" which moved slowly with a certain height for a few minutes.
