Summary:

In his 1958 book "Mystérieux Objets Célestes", Aimé Michel indicated without giving a source that on October 4, 1954, around 8:30 p.m. in Trégon in Brittany, a luminous object came to rest on the top of a hill; several people got into a car or cars to take a closer look but the object moved away as they approached.

In his catalog of "landings", in 1969, Jacques Vallée reports the same thing, associated with another case, which means that his indication of a press source Le Parisien for October 7, 1954, is not very sure.

This will be repeated later by others, without further information.

They went there, but the object had flown away. What seems to be the same object was also seen in Mégrit, approximately 24 kilometers in the south-west of Trégon, hovering above a farm. It was described as metallic, flat, and emitting light.

The Belgian ufologist indicates in her catalogue that in 1954, on October 4, in France in "Tregon", "Several people saw towards 20:30 an object which seemed to hover above a hill. They went there by car but it had disappeared. What seemed to be the same object was seen in Megrit at 25 km in south-west, hovering above a farm. It was described like a flat metallic object, emitting light."

She indicates that the source is "Jacques Vallée: 'Chronique des apparitions ET' - DENOEL 1972 -J'AI LU COLL. - p. 267, 268".

Evaluation - Probably astronomical

Explanations:

Totally insufficient information.

It might have been an astronomical misinterpretation. On October 4, 1954, around 8:30 p.m. from Trégon, Mars was at azimuth 188°, elevation 15°, setting at 11:45 p.m. The Moon was on the right of Mars at 202°, elevation 12°6', it set at 10:49 p.m., it was in its last quarter with 46.0% of its surface illuminated. A notable star was Capella (28°, elevation 12°), Venus set at 7:42 p.m.
