October 4, 1954, Chaumargeais, Haute-Loire:

Reference for this case: 4-Oct-54-Chaumargeais.
Please cite this reference in any correspondence with me regarding this case.

Summary:

The regional newspaper Le Quotidien de la Haute-Loire of October 15, 1954 reported under the headline "The 'saucer' did not land but dropped 'balls'":

It was claimed wrongly that Mrs. Blachon, resident of Chaumargeais, close to Tence, had seen a flying saucer landing. Information being fetched, Mrs. Blachon did not see the machine land but, on the other hand noted in a very clear manner that this cigar released pellets which disappeared quickly in the atmosphere. One thus wonders if they were "rolled in the flour or the sugar"...

The ufologist Michel Jeantheau, in 1999, found the case in the regional newspaper L'Eveil de la Haute-Loire for October 15, 1954, similarly reported but with the full name of the witness, Mrs. Léonie Blachon.

Reports:

[Ref. lqh1:] NEWSPAPER "LE QUOTIDIEN DE LA HAUTE-LOIRE":

THE "SAUCER" DID NOT LAND BUT RELEASED "PELLETS"

It was claimed wrongly that Mrs. Blachon, resident of Chaumargeais, close to Tence, had seen a flying saucer landing. Information being fetched, Mrs. Blachon did not see the machine land but, on the other hand noted in a very clear manner that this cigar released pellets which disappeared quickly in the atmosphere. One thus wonders if they were "rolled in the flour or the sugar"...

[Ref. mju1:] MICHEL JEANTHEAU:

This ufologist indicates that a "very shiny flying cigar from which pellets escaped" was observed by Mrs. Léonie Blachon in Chaumargeais, about 5 km south-east of Tence.

He indicates that the source is L'Eveil de la Haute-Loire, Le Puy-en-Velay, France, October 15, 1954.
