Summary:

In a general catalog of sighting reports of the Gironde written by the Bordeaux section of the C.F.R.U., published in the ufology magazine Ouranos in the fourth quarter of 1973, it is said that according to the Sud-Ouest newspaper for October 4, 1954, the following observation occurred:

Before October 4, 1954, therefore, at 11 a.m. in Ambés, Mr. Dourthe, a baker, saw a huge block the size of a truck of several tons. He stopped his car and saw that the block was shiny and transparent like glass. Soon, the huge mass rose quickly in the sky.

Witness: Mr. DOURTHE, baker. Huge "block" the size of a "multi-ton truck". The witness stops his car and sees that the "block" was shiny and transparent like glass. Soon after it rose rapidly into the sky.

The two authors indicate that on October 4, 1954 at 11:00 in the morning in Ambés in the Gironde, Mr. Dourthe, baker, claimed to have seen in the sky "a block of the size of a truck of several tons."

The witness had stopped his car to examine the strange phenomenon, which was luminous and transparent, shining like a worm. After having remained motionless, the immense mass went up very quickly and "disappeared in space."

The authors indicate that the case is from their personal archive.

The Belgian ufologist indicates in her catalogue that in 1954, on October 4, in France in Ambes in the Gironde, "baker Dourthe claims to have seen in the sky, around 11 hours, a block of the size of a truck of several tons. He stopped his car to examine the strange phenomenon. It was luminous and transparent, shining like a worm. After having remained motionless, the huge mass went up quickly and disappeared in space."

She indicates the source as "M. FIGUET/ J.L. RUCHON: 'Ovni, Premier dossier complet...' Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979, p. 122-123".

Luc Chastan notes in his database that in the Gironde in Ambés on October 4, 1954 at 11:00 hours, "a witness claims to have seen in the sky a 'block of the size of a truck of of several tons'. The witness stopped his car to examine the strange phenomenon. It was luminous and transparent, shining like a worm. After having remained motionless, the huge mass went up very quickly and disappeared in space."

Luc Chastan indicates as source: "Ovni, Premier dossier complet... by Figuet M./ Ruchon J.L. ** Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979".

If this is not a very distorted story, possibly of a meteor, I can well imagine that it might have been an extraterrestrial craft. The data is obviously not sufficient to be sure of anything.
