The regional newspaper La Voix du Nord, in the local issue of Boulogne for October 3, 1954, reported that there had been a big stir on October 2, 1954 at 9:15 a.m. in Marquise, avenue Ferber, section of the National Road Boulogne-Calais.
At a place called "Le Champ d'Asile" a flying saucer was seen.
But two courageous young girls quickly solved the mistake made by some "fertile imaginations": the fog had hidden the post which lifted the white disc of a recently installed billboard. The consoles lined with insulators of a phone line pylon, topping the disc, had completed the illusion.
