The case appears in the ufological literature with the "UFO landings" catalog by Jacques Vallée from 1966 on; he reports that in October 1954, at 7:30 p.m., in Crocq in France, at the Montlaur dungeon, five people, including J. Dubois, had seen a round craft, maneuvering, emitting a blinding light, and having a few openings or portholes, and seeming to land far from them.
Jacques Vallée gave no other indication or source.
In their 1975 catalog of observations in the Creuse department, the ufology magazine INFO-UFO was slightly more dissertated:
On October 2, 1954 at 7:30 p.m., in Crocq, Mr. and Mrs. Dubois, and Mrs. Pinguet, had seen to the right of the Féniers airfield, a rounded object pointed at each side, descending from the sky.
The observation lasted 10 minutes, with two "vertical stops" of about one minute each.
On the rounded part of the craft, several "violently illuminated" portholes, with a "light that cannot exist on earth", were seen.
The magazine indicated that the sources were, in addition to Jacques Vallée, the Mémorial de la Marche for October 9, 1954, and Le Cherheur for October 23, 1954.
The same year, 1975, Charles Garreau and Raymond Lavier gave their version, without specifying their sources, saying that in Crocq, on October 13, 1954, "Mr. Jean Dubois who lives on top of Crocq near the old towers, prepares to enter his car in his garage, he glances at the countryside, then sees a craft the size of a 4CV - a popular compact car - but elongated and rounded at both ends, descending lower than the moon rising on the horizon. Mr. Dubois calls his wife and son, as well as a neighbor, Mrs. Adrien Pinguet and her son, all following the maneuvers of this craft that, twice, stops for about a minute. "On the rounded part, there were lots of portholes, from which a light that could not exist on earth escaped. I am knowledgeable, and I am not aware of these kinds of rays that would require wearing very dark sunglasses, even from afar." Mr. Dubois asks the other witnesses to continue the observation. He drives with his car to the presumed landing spot 5 or 6 kms towards Gentioux. But he looks for traces of the craft in vain. When he returns home everything is gone."
Subsequently, the different versions will be repeated many times, none having anything more to say, so that it seems very difficult to be sure that it was not simply a helicopter.

The two authors indicate for the case in Crocq; which they date October 13, 1954:
"Mr. Jean Dubois who lives in the top of Crocq close to the old towers, is on the point of returning his car in his garage. He happens to throws a glance on the countryside. He then sees a craft of the size of a 4 CV [normal sized french car of that time], but elongated and rounded at the two ends, which goes down from an altitude lower than that of the moon which rises at the horizon. Mr. Dubois calls his wife and his son, as well as a neighbor, Mrs. Adrien Pinguet and the son of the latter. All follow the evolutions of this machine which, twice, stays hovering during one minute approximately. "On the round-off, one noticed sorts of port-holes, from where a light escaped which cannot exist on this Earth. I am a professionnal, and I am not informed of this sort of rays which must require the wearing of very dark glasses, even at distance." Mr. Dubois asks the other witnesses to continue the observation. As for himself, he leaves with his car towards the point of the supposed landing, At 5 or 6 kilometers in direction of Gentioux. But it is in vain that he seeks the traces of the machine. When he returns to the house all had disappeared."

The two French ufologists indicate in their book that on October 2, 1954, at 07:30 p.m., in Feniers, five people who were "on the right side" of the airfield observed an object of round shape but pointed on each side. They noticed that there were violently lit portholes violently on the rounded part, of a "color that cannot exist on this earth." They saw the object go down vertically, marking two stops of one minute approximately, and it then seemed to land, but quite far from the witnesses.
The object is of round shape pointed at the sides. On the round-off several strongly lighted port-holes are noticed.
The witnesses are Mr. et Mrs J. Dubois, Miss Pinguet, Miss Dubois, and someone else.
The authors indicate that the sources are the case 279 of the Vallée catalogue, where it is dated October 13 and put in Crocq in the Creuse at the Montlaur dungeon; and the "Mémorial de la Marche" for October 9, 1954; "Le Chercheur" for October 23, 1954; INFO-OVNI, catalogue Creuse page 6.
