In their 1975 book "Face Aux Extra-Terrestres", ufologists Charles Garreau and Raymond Lavier reported an observation of August 2, 1954, at Saint-Sauveur-la-Sagne, Puy-de-Dôme.
They said that a Mrs. Carrière wrote them a letter to report her observation.
She was on vacation with her husband and six children in Saint-Sauveur-la-Sagne. One morning, as she was coming back from shopping in the village, she saw a kind of black balloon land, from which she descended, she said, "a very small man, with a dreadful face. The face all black."
Another being had stayed in the craft. The one who got off was only a few seconds on the ground "and then sped up on board," she said, and the craft took off immediately and rose noiselessly, leaving a very white wake behind.
In a neighboring meadow, Mrs. Carriere said, two cows had fallen to the ground "and wrung their necks, as if they had been tortured."
She added: "The farmer and his wife, who were next to me, and myself, were paralyzed, as if thunderstruck."

The two ufologists authors report that Mrs. Carrière wrote a letter to them to report her observation in August 1954:
She was on holiday with her husband and her six children in Saint-Sauveur-la-Sagne. One morning, whereas she returns from shopping at the village, she saw a kind of very black balloon land, from which stepped down, she said, "a very small man, and with a dreadful face, with a very black face."
Another had remained in the machine. The being stepped down and remained on the ground only a few seconds and "went up on board fast," she said. The machine took off at once and rose without noise, leaving a very white trail behind. In a nearby meadow, noticed Mrs. Carrière, two cows fell to the ground "and twisted their neck as if they had been tortured."
And she adds: "the farmer and his wife, who were at the side, like myself, were paralyzed, as struck down." She concludes her report "I kept this vision quite in my remembering!"

The two ufologists indicate that one morning in August 1954 at an unspecified time, in Saint-Sauveur-la-Sagne, there was an observation with three witnesses, Mrs. Carrière, a farmer and his wife.
The observation is said to relate to a very black object in the shape of a balloon, a very small being with a "dreadful face" and "very black face" and another being in a machine.
One of the witnesses [?] saw a kind of very black balloon landing, and a very small man with a dreadful and very black face come out of it, while another remained in the apparatus. The being on the ground remained there a few seconds and then went up fast in the apparatus, which took off immediately and rose without noise, leaving behind itself a white trail.
The witnesses ensure to have been paralyzed, "as struck by lightning", and two cows fell to ground.

The authors indicate that in August 1954 on a date which remains unspecified, in the Puy de Dôme, a farmer and two women said to have seen a kind of "very black balloon" landing, from which "a very small man, with a dreadful and very black face" came down.
Another similar being remained on board of the craft. The other, after having been a few moments only on the ground, went up on board the craft which left without noise, leaving behind a "white wake."
The witnesses said they had been paralyzed as if they were struck by lightning, and two of their cows fell on the ground.

Jean Sider indicates, based on Michel Figuet, that one morning of August 1954 in Saint-Sauveur-la-Sagne, in the Puy-de-Dôme, Mrs. Carrière and a couple of anonymous farmers saw a kind of very black "balloon" landing. A small being with a dreadful black face descended from there while a second one remained in the object. At the end of a few seconds, the being on the ground quickly went up in the apparatus which took off at once without noise, leaving a white trail behind. The witnesses said they were paralyzed and two cows fell on the ground.

One morning whereas she returns from shopping, she sees landing a kind of very black balloon, from which goes down a very small man with a dreadful and black face. Another one stayed in the object. At the end of a few seconds the first goes up on board quickly. The object then takes off at once without noise and leaving a white wake behind him. Two cows in the nearby meadow fell to the ground and seem to suffer. Two other witnesses the guard of the cows and his wife."

Another being remained in the craft. The man who had gone down was on the ground a few seconds before getting back on board. The craft took off at once and rose noiselessly, leaving behind a white wake. In a neighboring meadow, noted Mrs. Carrière, two cows fell to the ground "and twisted their necks as if they had been tortured." She added: "The farmer and his wife who were nearby, as well as myself, were paralyzed, as if struck by lightning."
Julien Gonzalez points out that there was no investigation into this case; which is only a letter from one of the witnesses, Mrs Carrière, to the ufologist Charles Garreau.

Mrs Carrier, who was on holiday with her family, and was returning from shopping in the village, when she saw something like a black balloon land and from it emerge a dwarf with a "dreadful black face". Another being stayed in the craft, and the one who got out returned shortly afterwards. The object then took off silently, leaving an intensely white trail. Two cows in a nearby field fell to the ground, their necks twisted. Mrs Carriere along with the farm and his wife was paralysed.

See the CE3 catalogue. It is unfortunate that Garreau and Lavier apparently did or published nothing more on an apparently highly interesting case with multiple witnesses mentioned and apparently high strangeness features.
The day, August 2, seems to have been made up by [jbu1] since no other source indicates a more precise date than "August 1954".
