Summary:

Two web databases of UFO sightings, one American, the other German, both only moderately reliable, report that there was an observation in Noirmoutier on August 28, 1954.

The American source said it was an object "with an appearance and behavior that most likely would have a conventional explanation", observed by "four witnesses for more than three minutes."
