The regional newspaper Le Méridional, on the frontpage of October 31, 1954, reported that according to their Press correspondent, a "luminous apparatus" crossed the sky of Vals-les-Bains on October 27, 1954.
It was described as round in shape, emitting a bright reddish-orange glow, crossing the sky of the city at a very high speed.
It was seen by many people from different parts of the city.
