In the nineties, author Jean Sider discovered this case of October the 25, or 26, 1954, in Rânes in the department of Orne, through an article of the newspaper Ouest-France, of Rennes, for October 27, 1954, of which he gave the content:
"The young Aumoitte, 15, house employee resident at 'Chêne Angot' close to Rânes, saw a big cigar, five meters long, pointed at the front and rounded at the back, which sought to land in a field. The young man ran to approach the machine, which took again altitude, initially gently then at a vertiginous speed."

The young Aumoitte, 15, a servant living in "Chêne-Angot", near Rânes, saw a big cigar five meters long, pointed at the front and rounded at the back, trying to land in a field. He ran to get closer to the craft, which regained altitude, gently at first. then at breakneck speed.

Luc Chastan indicates that in the Orne in Rânes on October 25, 1954 at an unknown hour, "Dubious day perhaps the 26th. A teenager observes large cigar five meters long pointed at the front and rounded at the back which tries to land in a field. The witness runs to approach the object which takes again altitude gently then at a vertiginous speed."
He indicates the source as "Lumières dans la Nuit".
