An article in Radar magazine for November 7, 1954 reported "an appearance of 6 seconds" whose witness was Mr. Jean-Pierre Pacouil, 22, rue du Capitaine-Escudié, Toulouse:
"I think I am doing the right thing by telling you about the phenomenon which I witnessed yesterday, Friday, October 22, while I was chatting with two of my colleagues on the bridge of the Ecole-Vétérinaire around 6:55 p.m. before taking my postal service in the sorting center. I do say a luminous phenomenon; that is what I will support against all odds, on my very honor. I cannot specify the nature of it, except that it could not to be a plane...
"I was joking with my two companions about a transformer, placed near the postal sorting centre, which gratifies you with a good electric jolt when, inadvertently, you put a hand on its carcass and the other on the railing of the bridge. Suddenly, I saw a light - I say a light, not a craft - at a very high altitude above the Sirvin factories. The apparition lasted about 5 seconds. The light that came out of the night in a round shape, stretched out leaping above the railway tracks, swelled again towards the Côte-Pavée district, leaving behind something like sparks before fainting. For a moment, I thought it was a very fast airplane signaler, but the sparks that occurred dissuaded me...
"I will be the happiest of men, I confess, to learn that it was a meteor, because the saucer business has lasted too long in my opinion, and I do not trust to excited minds".
In the 2000s, a database of German UFO observations on the web noted that there had been a sighting of the "nocturnal lights" kind in Toulouse at night on October 22, 1954.
An American website noted the same thing, telling that it was at 8 p.m. and giving as source a computer catalog.
