In 1977, the ufology group GNEOVNI of the Nord had noted in their bulletin #2 that on October 22, 1954, in Cassel, North, according to the newspaper La Voix du Nord of October 24, 1954, edition of Dunkirk, took place the following observation:
On Friday, October 22, 1954 at 7:15 a.m., Mrs. Bachelier, 27, living on avenue Albert Mahieu in Cassel, reportedly saw from her home a saucer that landed at a few hundred meters from the Masson castle, between Cassel and the Mount Recollets. The craft had the shape of a saucer surmounted by a sort of cube, a bright glow and a kind of thick yellow smoke came out.
Ms. Bachelier reportedly called her father, Mr. Hughe, a cotton greaser, and her neighbor, Ms. Georgette Wallyn, a 19-year-old stenographer, who also saw the phenomenon.
After a few minutes, the object reportedly rose almost vertically to disappear in the clouds.
Around 2006, the ufology group GERU noted the same report on their website.

Will Mont Cassel add to its other titles of glory that of the first landing site for a flying saucer? The question can be asked now since three people claim to have seen a saucer land at some distance from the Château Masson, between Cassel and the Mont des Récollets.
Friday, around 7:15 a.m., Mrs. Bachelier, 27 years old, living on avenue Albert-Mahieu, in Cassel, reportedly saw from her home (that is to say several hundred meters away) a craft which had the shape of a saucer surmounted by a kind of cube. A bright light and thick yellow smoke issued from this weird machine. Mrs. Bachelier called her father, Mr. Hugue, oiler at the Cotonnière of Fives, and her neighbor, Miss Georgette Walyn, 19, shorthand typist, who also saw the phenomenon.
After a few minutes, the saucer reportedly rose almost vertically to disappear into the clouds.

A LANDING IN CASSEL:
On Friday, October 22, 1954 at 7.15 a.m. Mme BACHELIER, 27, avenue Albert Mahieu in Cassel, reportedly saw from her home a saucer which reportedly landed a few hundred meters from the MASSON castle between Cassel and Mont-des-Recollets. The craft had the shape of a saucer surmounted by a sort of cube, a bright gleam and a kind of yellow smoke came out. Mme BACHELIER called her father, Mr HUGUE, oiler in the cotton plant of Fives, and her neighbor, Georgette WALLYN 19-year-old shorthand typist who saw the phenomenon. After a few minutes the object would have risen almost vertically to disappear in the clouds.

On Friday 10/22/54 towards 07:15, Mrs. Bachelier, 27 years old, residing Avenue Albert Mahieu in Cassel, is said to have seen, from her home, a saucer which would have landed at a few hundreds of meters of the Masson castle, between Cassel and the mount of Recollets. The apparatus had the shape of a saucer surmounted of a kind of cube, a sharp gleam and a sort of thick yellow smoke came out of it. Mrs. Bachelier called her father, Mr. Hughe, greaser at the cotton factory of Fives, and her neighbor Mrs. Georgette Wallyn, 19 years old, shorthand typist, who saw the phenomenon. At the end of a few minutes, the object is said to have risen almost vertically to disappear in the clouds.

Unfortunately, the precise street numer of the witnesses in the avenue (yellow line on the map) was not reported; which removes much to the precision in the direction, which witnesses had given with two landmarks, the mount and the castle:

So we can only say that the phenomenon was between East and Northeast.
The day was starting, but the sun will only appeared at 7:44 a.m.
The Moon was a crescent with 17.9% of its illuminated area at 33° elevation and 133° azimuth (southeast). It had risen at 3:13 a.m. Venus was not up until 11:15 a.m.
The description "a saucer surmounted by a sort of cube, a bright glow and a kind of thick yellow smoke came out" does not seem to me to correspond to the Moon.
Was it a helicopter? We are not told if the thing was silent or noisy; on the other hand, the statement that a "kind of thick yellow smoke was coming out" does not seem to me to be compatible with a helicopter.
The phenomenon remains unidentified for me.
