Author and ufologist Aimé Michel illustrated that "false" flying saucers sightings were then easily identified as misinterpretations when serious investigation took place, from three example on September 21, 1954. For one of them, he wrotes:
"- In the Côte d'Azur, where the Flying Saucer is obviously only a fireball..."
