Author ufologist Jean Sider found this case in the local newspaper Les Nouvelles de Falaise for November 25, 1954, the case being dated November 20, 1954, the place given as Laize-la-Ville, Thury-Harcourt, in the department of Calvados.
The article stated that a teacher at the Caen Conservatory of Music, Mr. Bex, drove in a car when he was arrested by a 15-year-old resident of Boulon, whose name is not given by the newspaper, who told him that a moment ago he saw a huge spinning top, which was lit in red and crossed the road at ground level.
Mr. Bex stated that the young man seemed sincere and said he had not seen the phenomenon itself.

Jean Sider found this case when he discovered an article of the newspaper Les Nouvelles de Falaise, of Falaise, on page 2, for November 25, 1954, the case being dated of November 20, the location given as Laize-la-Ville, Thury-Harcourt, in the department of the Calvados.
The article indicated that a professor of the Academy of Music of Caen, Mr. Bex, was driving when he was stopped by a teenager of about fifteen years old, resident of Boulon, whose name is not given by the newspaper, which told him to have seen a few moment earlier an enormous spinning top which rotated, which was glowing in red and had crossed the road at the level of the ground. Mr. Bex stated that the young man seemed sincere. Mr. Bex specified that he had not seen the phenomenon himself.

The website indicates that on 20 November 1954 at 21:10 in Laize-la-Ville, France, "15-yr-old boy sees huge top-shaped saucer cross road at near ground level. Rotates, glows red." "An object was sighted that had an appearance and performance beyond the capability of known earthly aircraft. One red top-shaped object, of huge size, was observed by one male 15-year-old witness on a road for over one minute."

One would surely smile at this affair with its anecdotal character; however, it does not have a solid explanation, and will probably never get one.
Of course it could have been a meteor, the Sun, the Moon, an airplane, etc. etc.
