Summary:

I found in the regional newspaper La Dépêche du Midi for October 4, 1954, on page 4, the story of an observation in Brive-la-Gaillarde, Corrèze, undated, but perhaps from 1954.

A Mr. Henri Maury, described as shy and fearful of ridicule, had not said anything about what he had seen, but came forward when he read in the Press that, everywhere, the existence of "mysterious phenomena" was reported.

He said: "One night at my house, between midnight and 1 a.m., the window of my bedroom being open, I saw, traveling in the sky, a kind of luminous globe resembling a star, which came from the direction of the airfield (this airfield, close to Brive, is located on the road of Bordeaux).

"It was not a shooting star, since this red disk soon immobilized above the station for about three quarters of an hour, when the globe, like rays, fired multicolored beams."

"At the end of about three quarters of an hour, the globe, amputated from its beams, began to move again and disappeared in a luminous trail."

A luminous globe
in the sky of Brive

Brive (C.P.) -- M. Henri Maury is shy and moreover, he fears the ridicule. That is why he said nothing of what he had seen when he read in the press that the existence of mysterious phenomena was reported on all sides.

"One night at my house," he said, "between midnight and 1 a.m., the window of my bedroom being opened, I saw, traveling in the sky, a kind of luminous globe resembling a star, and which came from the direction of the airfield (this airfield, near Brive, is located on the road to Bordeaux)."

"It was not a shooting star, since this red disk stopped shortly above the railway station for about three-quarters of an hour. That's when the globe, like rays, sparked multicolored blades."

"After about three quarters of an hour, the globe, amputated of its blades, resumed its motion and disappeared in a luminous trail."

Explanations:

Map.

I do not see any prosaic explanation to what is described by this witness. It may have been an extraterrestrial craft.
