According to a catalog published in the ufological bulletin UFO Informations, the newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré for September 22, 1954, reported this observation of September 16, 1954, around 09:30 p.m. in Montélimar:
The guard of a campground, Mr. L. saw, close to the moon shining in an excessively clear sky, a circle of light which, in a few seconds grew, then began to decrease in size and disappeared.
Moments later, as he was telling his [female] boss what he had just seen, an "object" of very elongated shape appeared again in the sky, not far from the first appearance. This object then went away and disappeared as quickly and mysteriously as the first.
