October 16, 1954, Paris:

Summary:

After having published an article that proponed the idea that certain witnesses were "targeted", "chosen", by UFOs, the ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit in its issue 364 of May 2002 published readers reactions.

One of them came from Mr. Paul Guicciardi, who reported that on Saturday October 16, 1954, he had seen an orange globe with a long straight and luminous trail - he wondered wether this was ionized air - which crossed Boulevard Raspail at rooftop level, at the Raspail subway station.

As on the same sidewalk as him, two men heading towards Place Denfert Rochereau did not seem to have seen the phenomenon, which was very large (4 to 6 m in diameter according to him}, exactly in front of them, he wonders if in his case too, he had been "targeted".

Here is a first reaction to the notion of "targeted observations", close to those of "privileged witnesses" or "under influence" witnesses: Mr. Paul Guicciardi tells us about an experience he had at the peak of the wave of 1954:

It reminds me of my observation of Saturday, October 16, 1954: an orange globe with a long straight and luminous trail (ionized air?) which crossed the boulevard Raspail at the level of the roofs, at the Raspail metro station.

On the same sidewalk as me, two men heading towards Place Denfert Rochereau did not seem to have seen the phenomenon, which was very large (4 to 6 m in diameter}, exactly in front of them!

Would this also be a targeted observation? I often asked myself the question.

Explanations:

Map.

Obviously one of the numerous sightings of the big meteor of October 16, 1954.

Aimé Michel and other ufologist knew and wrote about this famous meteor.

The witness wonders wether there was "ionized air". This is obviously the case with meteors, visible precisely because they ionize the air.

Note the given size, which is meaningless; only an angular size can make sense for an unrecognized phenomenon seen at more than fifty meters.

Note that the idea developed in the magazine about UFOs "targeting" certain witnesses does not apply, in any case, here, since everything indicates that the witness was "targeted"... by a meteor.
