Summary:

In his catalog of "landings" of 1969, ufologist Jacques Vallée had noted that on August 16, 1953, at 08:30 p.m. in Tours, Claude Pasquier saw two discs flying very low and very slowly, in straight line, with a "hard" sound.

By mistake, in their 1979 catalog, ufologists Michel Figuet and Jean-Louis Ruchon gave August 16, 1954, as the date of this case.

The observation was published in the Bulletin of the Astronomical Society of France in 1953, with August 16, 1953, as sighting date, according to the ufology magazine Lumières Dans LA Nuit #54 of January 1963.

Reports:

[Ref. ldl1:] MAGAZINE D'UFOLOGIE "LUMIERES DANS LA NUIT":

In 1953:

Suspicious objects: Mr. Claude PASQUIER in Tours (Indre et Loire) tells, with a lot of precise details the appearance above Tours, Sunday, August 16, around 08:30 p.m., of two circular craft, flying very low emitting a sound "loud and hard" without any analogy with that of known craft. The movement was very slow, absolutely straight and the two machines were moving in exactly the same way, as if they were mechanically connected to each other. (excerpt from S. A. F. Bulletin, year 1953, page 477)

[Ref. jve1:] JACQUES VALLEE:

In his "landings" catalogue, Jacques Vallée indicates as case 115 that on August 16, 1953, at 08:30 p.m. in Tours, France, Claude Pasquier saw two disks flying very low, quite slowly, along a straight course, with a "hard" sound.

The source is indicated as "Anatomy 65, 141".

115) August 16, 1953 08:30 p.m. Tours (France):

Mr. Claude Pasquier saw two discs flying very low and very slowly, following in a stright line with a "hard" noise.

[Ref. fru1:] MICHEL FIGUET ET JEAN-LOUIS RUCHON:

The authors indicate that on August 16, 1953, at 08:30 p.m. in Tours, France, Claude Pasquier saw two disks flying very low, quite slowly, along a straight course, with a "hard" sound.

The source is indicated as "Vallée Catalogue, case #115."

[Ref. lcn1:] LUC CHASTAN:

Luc Chastan indicates that in Tours in the Indre et Loire on August 16, 1954 at 08.30 p.m. "M Pasquier sees two discs flying very low and very slowly, following a straight course, with a 'hard' noise."

The source is indicated as "Ovni, Premier dossier complet... by Figuet M./ Ruchon J.L. ** Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979".

Explanations:

Map.

In addition to the fact that the noisy craft could have been planes, or rather, helicopters, not very frequent at that time, it seems the case is of 1953, that Figuet and Ruchon mistyped the year. And it is certainly not a "landing" case.

I found "Mr. Pasquier, in Tours" in L'Astronomie bulletin, of the Société Astronomique de France, for January 1952, on page 23, as having been "witness of the passage in the sky of unusuak objects four different times and sends details about this".

In Lumières Dans La Nuit No. 71 of October 1964, "Claude Pasquier, of Tours, an amateur astronomer", reports two more observations of his own in 1963 and 1964.

In Lumières Dans La Nuit No. 91 of November - December 1967, he reports his 1967 sighting (probably a bird, which he evokes as an initial explanation).

I found "Mr. Pasquier, Tours" in the bulletin L'Astronomie of the Astronomical Society of France of January 1952, page 23, as having "witnessed the passage in the sky of unusual objects at four different times and he sends us details about it."

Lastly, among the list of subscribers of the ufology magazine Ouranos #25 of 1960, one finds "Mr. C. Pasquier, Tours".
