Summary:

The regional newspaper Le Méridional for September 16, 1954, reported from Montpellier via their Press correspondent, that a student of Montpellier, Mr. Bernard Mage, and one of his comrades, affirmed to have seen in the sky, "during the evening of Monday" - thus on September 13, 1954 - "mysterious machines" flying over the city.

They were walking in the center of the city when they saw two identical, oval-shaped objects, slowly spinning through the air.

These machines were silent, did not emit any light, but were perfectly illuminated by the moon, the sky being very clear at this time.

They could perfectly observe this for a quarter of an hour.

After about ten minutes, a third machine came to join the first two. It was spherical in shape and appeared surrounded by a circle, and it moved with a slight pitching motion.

After a few changes, this third craft seemed to come alive with an extremely fast rotational movement. Suddenly, it picked up speed and went away like a lightning bolt, folowed by the other two objects.

The newspaper noted that both observers certify that they have "not been the victim of an optical illusion."

Flying saucers in the sky of Montpellier?

MONTPELLIER (C.P.). -- A student of Montpellier, Mr. Bernard Mage and one of his comrades, claims to have seen in the sky, during the evening of Monday, mysterious craft flying above the city.

They walked in the center of the city when they saw two identical objects of oval form which turned slowly in the air.

The craft were silent and did not emit any light but they were lit perfectly by the moon, the sky being very clear at this place.

The phenomenon lasted approximately a quarter of an hour and was observed perfectly.

At the end of ten minutes, a third machine came to join the two first. It was of spherical form and appeared surrounded by a circle. It moved with a light movement of pitching.

After some evolutions, this third apparatus appeared to become animated of an extremely fast rotational movement. Suddenly, it took speed and moved away at the speed of a lightning, dragging the two satellites.

What are these craft? No one can say, but the two observers certify that they were by no means victim of an optical illusion.
