A catalog compiled from the data of Jean Giraud and Jean Gérard Dohmen, in the ufology magazine INFO-OVNI of December 1975, indicates that on October 13, 1954, in Saint-Pierre-de-Fursac, in the Creuse department, Mr M. Malifaud saw from his window an object "of rather large dimensions", of red color, which "seemed to touch the ground" in the direction of the village of Mailletard.
The original source is said to be the newspaper L'Echo du Centre for October 21, 1954.
In his FRANCAT catalog of 1985, ufologist Michel Figuet indicated that the observation was a misinterpretation caused by the Moon, but later sources would ignore this.

These two authors indicate that on October 13, in Saint Pierre de Fursac in the department of Creuse, Mr. M. Malifaud observed an object of rather large dimensions, of red color, from his/her windows at the location called Chabannes. The object seemed to touch ground in the direction of the village of Mailletard.

The Belgian ufologist indicates that on October 13, 1954 in France in St Pierre de Fursac, around 20 hours, Mr. Malifaud sees from his window at the locality "Chabannes", an object of rather great dimension, of red color, which seems to touche the ground in the direction of the village of Mailletard.
The source is noted: M. Figuet/ J.L. Ruchon: "Ovni, premier dossier complet..." Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979, p. 159.
Godelieve van Overmeire indicates that another version is that on October 4 with Sanvignes-Montceau les Mines, at 18:30 at the locality "Chavannes" approximately 20 people, among them Remy Gaudicourt of Sanvignes, saw a circular luminous object rise vicinity of the railway. It moved away vertically.
The source for this is noted Jacques Vallée: "Chronique des apparitions ET" - Denoël 1972 - J'AI LU Coll. - p. 267, 268.
[Note: This "other version" is a different case].
[Ref. lcn1:] LUC CHASTAN:
Luc Chastan indicates that in the Creuse in St Pierre de Fursac on October 13, 1954, at 20:00 hours, a witness, at the location "Chabannes", observes from his window an object of rather large dimension, of red color. It seems to touch the ground, in the direction of the village of Mailletard.
Luc Chastan indicates that the source is "Ovni, Premier dossier complet... by Figuet M./ Ruchon J.L. ** Alain Lefeuvre pub. 1979".

Evaluation - These two cases clearly refer to the same thing, meteor? Astronomical?
The location are well indicated:
The direction of observation thus ranges from 44° to 90°with a medium at 71°.
The moon rose at 06:35 p.m. at 62°, at 9:00 p.m. it was at 85°, elevation 22°, at 11:00 p.m. it was at 108°, elevation 42°, etc. It was in the right direction, but it was rising, not going to the ground, like all the celestial bodies there. I think Michel Figuet [mft3], or someone who told him it was the Moon, was only interested in the direction, did not realize the Moon was rising, so this explanation is not quite convincing to me.
Godelieve van Overmeire [goe1] was also very wrong when she stated that the October 4 case in Sanvignes - Montceau-les-Mines would be "a different version" of this case; it is absolutely not so.
However, the case, poorly documented, without investigation, as unidentified as it is, does not show much strangeness.
