In the bulletin of the Astronomical Society of France of 1954, it is noted that a Mr. J. Mazet, in Aix-en-Provence, had informed the Society that on March 11, around 01:58 a.m., he saw a red disk, very luminous, the diameter of the full moon, crossing in a few seconds the constellation of the Big Dipper and going away towards Betelgeuse, leaving a reddish trail, without making any noise.
Although this description suggests it was a meteor, the report reappeared as a UFO report in a 1998 ufology book.
