The regional newspaper Le Méridional for April 12, 1954, reported the passage of a "mysterious machine" in the sky of the Puy-de-Dôme department.
From his garden, a resident of Messeix had seen on the night of April 11, 1954, in the sky, a "machine of elongated shape" moving at very high speed in the north-east direction.
The witness said that its passage was marked by a kind of explosion, while at its base several bright stars were scattered in various colors. Then "everything disappeared."
